In today’s world, we have witnessed tremendous growth in technology.  One critical example of this growth is the computer processor. Computer processor speeds are getting exponentially faster as the time goes on.  Regardless of how quick and great a computer is today, an even faster and greater one will come out tomorrow, rendering today’s greatest obsolete. This is something that factories have to be wary of on a daily basis. In just a few years, technology and products that were at their peak then are considered mediocre now. What is it that wholesale suppliers do with these merchandise that have become obsolete? One option a company has is the method to liquidate all the time. First, let’s speak about something else.

Items produced by a manufacturer and put on the market in bulk quantities are eventually replaced by new ones.  Vendors who specialize in liquidated and wholesale closeout items obtain these goods.  If a product has a small defect and is unable to be sold as new, they may warrant a cut in price.  Even though these products have nothing integrally wrong with them, if these slightly defective items were sold for the regular retail price, customers would probably be taking them back to the store.

These are usually the products you will see in a wholesale closeout warehouse. Occasionally, when merchandise is returned to the store where it was found, it is put in storage  These products start to pile up on warehouse shelves after time and they cannot be stored anymore no matter how huge the storage place is.  Managers see to it that the products, including the old ones spoken of earlier, are taken off the shelves. Because retail stores have to focus on selling retail priced items, they are unable to worry about selling returned items; this is where wholesale liquidations become the lone practical solution.

Many manufacturers will advertise their closeouts to bring in more customers to their stores.  When the manufacturers do this, they realize that although people are coming in to check out the closeouts, they will actually end up purchasing other items from the store as well.  A company with this approach is very smart. As these factory products come in, the liquidation prices are often set very low in an attempt to attract people into purchasing them. Many people attend these kinds of events.  Products that have been out on the shelf for some time are given a discounted price to make room in the stock room for newer merchandise.

Many businesses regularly do this type of closeout event. Furniture manufacturers and car dealerships are often found doing closeout sales.  Spring and fall are the prime season for new automobiles, so this is when liquidations are done in order to clear space to sell new cars. If an item is left unsold in a single place for too long, it doesn’t earn it’s share when newer products come out on the market. In today’s unsteady economy, consumers are more aware of how they spend their money, and would rather purchase their vehicle while a closeout sale is going on.

The same goes for furniture retailers. Some furniture just does not sell as well in the winter compared to other times of the year. A good example of this is patio furniture; the company will do whatever necessary to make sure it is out of the stores by wintertime. This is generally done by holding a liquidation or wholesale closeout sale.  If the sale doesn’t end in success, the furniture needs to be stored during the winter months.  It is more advantageous and inexpensive to sell the furniture at a discounted rate, than to go to the trouble of storing it. If you know when to shop and find the great bargains, you can get the most affordable price on furniture.

Many wholesalers and manufacturers will have an annual closeout sale. A representation of this would be lamp retailers. If a manufacturer will be discontinuing their business, the store will have a closeout sale to clear out all products from that particular manufacturer. They then need to find new companies that will fill the shelves emptied by the closed manufacturer.
